Pierre Richard Anthony Williams

Dear Pierre,
Damn,

I've known you like 5 years fam...and now you've moved on. I can't believe it would end like this.

I remember the first time we met...and the Frat House. You came up...checking to make sure I was frat and not just a Sigma :-), but from that point, we were thick as thieves. We kicked it all the time, always hung out, wild out, and MAB out!

You were my brother from another mother fam...believe that.

As time went on...I'll admit...we lost touch. School was getting crazy, but whenever things lightened up and we ran into each other...it was like we never left. None of that..."oh, why haven't you called me?" or "Damn, I ain't seen you ina a minute." It was more like, "Where's the next party so we can crash that *&**!"

I miss you already and you haven't even been gone that long. I know you're at the pearly gates, getting your new attire, making your way through to your new home on streets paved with gold. BTW, if you get a chance, tell our Founder's I said hello. Let them know that you fought a good fight and that you kept Sigma in it's rawest form...the form of Brotherhood. Tell them you also kept the ideals of Scholarship and Service.

Tell them you were the one that went back to DC from Georgia and worked for Sigma. Tell them about the kids you've influenced, the borthers you've impacted, and tell them for me that above all else, you always spoke your mind...and kept the brotherhood real. Brothers may not have always agreed wth what you say, hell, some brothers wanted to fight, but at the end of the day, you were true to yourself, and people had to respect that.

Remember when you bought that old green busted pontiac, and convinced me to buy this lemon Honda accord that almost got me and my peoples in an accident on the way to George Mason. It's all good I got my money back on that crap. I remember when you upgraded to the convertible Chrysler Seabring and you'd be chilling rolling on HU's campus with the top down. LOL

But I'll never forget the final upgrade, when I first saw you in the Blue Dodge Durango. Not because of the Vehicle, but because it was the first time I noticed something was wrong.

I should've asked then....

Then I remember seeing you at the All nighter at College Park(University of Maryland, Epsilon Psi). I remember how tired you looked and it took me and my spec to send you home.

I should've asked then....

Then when you were in the chapter meeting and it was quite clear that something was wrong...

I should've demanded to know then....

But I was too late. By the time I got the word...you were already in a hospital...not doing well at all...and when I came to visit...it took everything in me not to cry right then and there. I stayed strong man for you...I told you that you were not going anywhere....NO WAY NO HOW. I remember telling you that you had to stay man, we've got another party coming up that weekend and we are going to do a Sigma reunion...get everyone out...so we could kick like always and celebrate your recovery. I said you were going to be fine and that this was just a bump in the road and you'll make it through.

And when I left that day, I cried in my car...knowing that I may never see you again. Now that day has come and I pray that you forgive me dear brother...
For all the times I didn't get to kick it longer.
For all the times I never made a call.
For all the times I never made a date to hang out.
For the time I could've and should've been a better
brother...I am very sorry.

I do smile though...knowing that you are in a better place. So I take my Sigma chain off and raise it to the sky hoping that the reflection of the light on it reaches you and that you know it's from me...happy to know that you are no longer suffering...

But the truth is...as much as I hate saying it because life is not about me....I wish you were still here...kicking it with me.

Miss you Popeye! God Bless...rest easy...you've done your time, now relax and enter the omega chapter with you head high and your heart proud. We'll pick up the reigns down here...and keep our cause speeding on...as you once did.

BLU-PHI! YOU KNOW!

Sincerely, and Fraternally,
Bro. Tyrone Hurley, Jr.
